FIRST STEPS WELLNESS CENTRE specializes in rehabilitation for people with neuro-muscular disorders. We help our clients regain function through the use of leading edge intensive exercise-based rehabilitation programs. We have applied these programs in the following areas.

In 12% of our cases we have helped people to walk again after a spinal cord injury - compared to only 0.5% post-inpatient rehabilitation. In 94% of our cases we have increased mobility and independence through functional gains.

Our training in The Therasuit Method®, MRNI Reflex Integration, Functional Electrical Stimulation and intensive activity-based therapy methods allows us to provide a unique and comprehensive therapy program to help a child make functional movement gains in just four weeks. This is a huge improvement over therapies which often take up to a year to accomplish the same goal.

This exercise program for people who have had a stroke, consists of intensive and activity based group exercises to help increase function, strength, independence, and quality of life. FSWC has two FES bikes at our facility. Some of the benefits of FES cycling include, reduced muscle atrophy, increased circulation, maintained or increased joint range of motion, and reduced spasticity. Please contact us if you' would like more information on using the FES Bikes.
